Here’s a brilliant idea to help deter against stolen cars.

Setting “traps” for car thieves. These are typically nice cars that are decked out with rims, nice stereo systems, or other items that thieves would find “valuable” being sold.

Thing is, it’s also equipped with other things thieves can’t see. Hidden cameras, a GPS that alerts authorities when the car has been stolen and gives information on how fast the car is traveling and what direction the car is going. A computer program integrated with the car
gives police a “one click” method to turn off the cars engine and lock the thieves in the car until police arrive, where they are caught red handed.

According to authorities in Dallas, this has helped to curb auto theft by 10% in one year.

You might be less likely to take your chances if you’re a car thief. One man was sentenced to 35 years in prison after being caught in a bait car. Seems like a long time to me..
