No one was expecting too much out of Nintendo, but it looks like Wii is the big winner so far at this year’s E3 show. People were expected to be floored by Sony’s PSP3 and Microsoft’s XBox, but Wii moved in a different direction and is capturing people’s imagination.

The Wii (pronounced “we”) uses a motion-sensor enabled controller that looks like a TV remote and allows users to direct action on the screen by wielding it like a sword or swinging it like a baseball bat, tennis racket or golf club.

People were standing in line for HOURS just to take a turn on the Wii. Why? Because it’s something new and people just can’t get enough of new things. Wii is using a whole different approach to gaming, by making movement a much bigger part of the user experience.

It looks like Nintendo wins the customer satisfaction award from E3. Now I have a novel idea. They could make the Wii so lifelike that people actually get exercise while playing! That could solve a few worldwide problem and help them sell games. Time will tell.
