The electronic toothbrush is overlooked as Gadget of the Millenium, and that’s a shame. From a standpoint of helpfulness, being able to keep your teeth is a great benefit. And make no mistake, electronic toothbrushes are a technological marvel in many ways. They allow even bad tooth brushers a chance to greatly enhance their chance of oral hygeine.

In fact, the electronic toothbrush even makes children brush their teeth better. Almost anyone can benefit from the electric toothbrush because it reaches areas, and deep cleans, in a way that a person won’t normally do unless they’re very focused. Even traditionally poor brushers will cover much more surface area and dig deeper to prevent tooth decay.

Tooth decay is on the rise globally, according to the WHO. It’s not surprising, given the huge increase in consumption of sugar in industrialized countries, and all of this is despite the addition of flouride to almost everything except the air supply. The fact is, people need to brush their teeth more in order to avoid decay that will result from the high consumption of sugar. Other chemicals present in modern diets can also lead to further decay, so brushing and flossing are the two key areas to fight back. We’ll take a look at some specific models of electronic toothbrushes in the coming weeks.
