AOL has spent years fighting e-mail spammers, and they’ve made headway recently. However, certain rules regarding charging organizations for bulk-email handling, have made them a few enemies recently. For years, certain organizations have become quite accustomed to the free email they send to keep in touch with members of their organizations. Several of them have banded together to found Dear Aol to air their grievances at the giant internet provider.

AOL is using technology from GoodMail which will allow them to increase the trust factor of email received by charging small fees to ensure delivery. AOL has traditionally spent a great deal of time and resources fighting spam. This attempt to monetize the efforts might allow them to become further victimize by bulk emailers, who will simply email more spam, while bypassing AOL spam filters. The service from GoodMail has been used now for several weeks.
