Sandisk is taking direct aim at Apple with its’ newest product. The new Sandisk Sansa will have 8GB of memory, which makes it capable of storing a mind-numbing 2,000 songs. This should attack the Ipod in one of the areas that they’ve been strongest in.

The price of the unit will be around $249. This is basically the same price as a 2GB Ipod Nano, so the supposition is that people will switch for 4 times the storage capacity. They have a point.

This could do some damage for the price-concious consumer who needs to use the maximum amount of storage.
