Best Buy announced that they have plans to open their first retail store in China. They have teamed up with the number 4 consumer electronics and appliance retailer, Jiangsu Five Star Appliance Co.

They are hoping to have their location at Shanghai’s busy Xujiahui shopping district open by year’s end, however they haven’t commited to a definitive opening date, saying that “they would open it when the time was right” and “that it wasn’t a race.”
Best Buy is planning on focusing on customer service as a unique selling point in China’s already heavily saturated comsumer electronic market. Most existing consumer electronic stores offer very little customer service and substandard products, which Best Buy is planning to capitalize on.
