Beijing Perfect World had a big year in 2006, and people wondered what the company did to set themselves apart from a rather crowded field. The company has built their success on a very particular foundation, including empowering players to help in their development. It makes sense, because after all, it’s the gamers who actually play the game.
With two of mainland China’s most popular online games in 2006, ”Wulin2” and ”Perfect World — International Edition,” to their credit, the CEO of Beijing Perfect World indicated that the Company will continue to do their best to increase the available game content and playing styles, so as to allow players to fully feel the games.
In anticipation of the need for games that players can fully connect to, Beijing Perfect World is extremely active in recruiting gamers so that they can be actively involved in the development process, allowing them to participate in the creation of the game, meaning gamers are playing games designed by themselves. A recent online survey showed that one of the main
reasons that online games are proving more successful than regular PC games is because the online games provide more realistic feelings of participation.
Not content to rest on their laurels, the company plans on expanding in 2007 with a few new offerings.
