Today EMI and Apple announced that they are going to start offering DRM right free songs at I-Tunes. The only songs that they aren’t able to offer are from the Beatles.
I-Tune customers will be able to purchase DRM right free songs for $1.29 which is 30 cents more than songs that are protected. The DRM free version will have higher quality.
DRM is used to curtail file sharing and piracy. DRM free music allows users to share the music and download it to a number of music devices. Many music devices don’t use the same type of DRM software, so it isn’t compatible with other players. This move will allow consumers to have more freedom with their music players or other device.
