Nintendo And NTT Pushing Wii Web Access

The Nintendo Wii has broadband capabilities that Nintendo and NTT want users to know about. The two companies have teamed up in order to educated consumers and grow out the business, which benefits both firms.

Driving Wii’s Internet connection is important for Nintendo since the company next March plans to launch a new service called WiiWare, which allows users of the Wii to purchase new game software titles via the Internet.

For Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp, which aims to boost subscribers to its fiber optic-based Web connection service in search for new long-term sources of growth, a growing user base for the Wii represents an attractive pool of potential customers

Nintendo has already sold over 13.2 million Wii controllers.
