If you’ve ever been concerned about the whereabouts of your child or a loved one, the Bladerunner jacket can ease your worried mind.

This jacket was originally designed for skiers, mountain climbers and snowboarders that might need to be located in case of an emergency. Recently they decided to market them to common folk.

“The jacket is not something that was released due to people losing their kids,” said Adrian Davis, a partner at Bladerunner. “It was originally made for mountain climbers, skiers and snowboarders.”

Davis said the company decided to make a children’s version of the jacket aimed at parents concerned about their children’s safety.

Using Google Earth maps, users can watch the jacket wearer move. The movements are updated every 10 seconds.

But they don’t need to be online to find out where the person is. Users can also receive alerts to their e-mail or cell phone when the jacket leaves the boundary, meaning parents could potentially receive alerts whenever their children skipped school, left the neighborhood or went to their boyfriend’s house — so long as the child was wearing the jacket.

To make it even safer, the jacket is slash resistant (aimed at those worried about increasing knife crime in London.) so it could help prevent against a knife attack, too.

The jacket costs $500.00 for a children’s jacket, $700.00 for an adults jacket and has a $20.00 monthly fee for the tracking technology.

LEO these days loves their gadgets. Some of their high tech gizmos are turning catching criminals into fishing with dynamite. And Charles “Sid” Heal of the LA Sheriff’s Department knows his gadgets hands-down.

But for the last decade, Heal has dedicated himself to helping cops avoid deadly confrontations. As head of the sheriff’s Technology Exploration Unit, he has tested hundreds of high-tech law enforcement gizmos — some backed by huge corporations, others the brainchild of garage inventors.

The 32-year veteran of the department is not a scientist, and he doesn’t develop products. But a bad review from him can doom or delay an invention, while endorsements can have buyers lining up at the maker’s door. Some, such as Tasers and pepper-spraying flashlights, are now a part of deputies’ everyday lives.

It is Heal’s job to look at the untold number of gadgets that people want to pitch to LEO every day. For that reason he’s developed a keen eye on whether the devices will actually make everyone’s job easier, or will end up being expensive flops.

So the next time you hear of a wacky gadget catching criminals, remember that its someone’s job to find them.

Jack is an ultra paranoid man that works for the CIA that is always looking out for conspiracies and other security breaches. Only those closest to him are included in his “circle of trust.”

He’s especially fond of putting tiny security cameras about to catch his son-in-law doing something he shouldn’t be doing. This clock is a perfect example of something he would use to catch someone in the act.

The clock houses a motion activated security camera that has 64 MB of memory and allows you to record 12 minutes of video (without audio) while your away. You can expand recording time by buying optional MMC or SD cards, if you require more recording time.

The video can then be accessed by connecting the clock to your personal computer with the provided USB cable.

It’s priced at $179.99 and can be purchased at Sharper Image
