LG Total Hi-Def Disc (THD) - Simple Solution To The Format Wars

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best ones. This may be especially true of the new idea of Total Hi-Def Disc (THD), which is a response to the standards war between Blu-Ray and HD DVD. Total Hi-Def Discs will offer the best of both worlds, literally, with each of the formats printed on either side. Side A will have Blu-Ray and Side B will have HD DVD. See, an easy solution.

it’s all pretty straightforward, though I’d imagine the technical challenges of producing such a disc are not light. Each side of the disc is standard for its respective camp. Pricing hasn’t been announced (though it’s doubtful the discs will command much of a premium, if any), nor have any titles been officially set. The Superman Returns photo is just for show, though it will likely be one of the early Total Hi-Def Disc releases.

LG might have really hit on the solution here. Time will tell.
